Shopify Image Optimizer
Product photos ready for Shopify: max 2048px, WebP, under 300 KB — compressed locally so your catalog never hits a third-party upload queue.
Opens /app/ with the Shopify / E-commerce preset
How it works
- Open the Shopify preset.
- Drop product JPEGs or PNGs from your shoot.
- Download WebP files under 300 KB and upload them in Shopify admin.
SnapShrink first fits each image inside 2048px, then runs target-KB search so the file stays ≤300 KB. If quality alone cannot hit the cap, mild further downscale may apply — the same honest path as the general compressor.
Why these settings
Storefront speed and zoom both matter. Oversized RAWs and phone dumps inflate theme weight; undersized thumbs look soft on retina. 2048px plus a 300 KB budget is a practical default for product grids and detail pages when WebP is accepted.
Need square ID or visa photos instead? Use the passport photo compressor. For article media, see the blog image optimizer.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Shopify preset do?
It fits images inside 2048px, encodes WebP, and searches quality (and mild downscale if needed) to stay at or under 300KB — all in your browser.
Why 2048px for Shopify?
Shopify recommends large product images around that size for zoom and high-DPI storefronts. Shipping multi-megabyte camera files slows your theme for no benefit.
Do product photos leave my computer?
No. SnapShrink never uploads images. Optimize locally, then upload results to Shopify yourself. See privacy.
Can I batch-optimize a product shoot?
Yes. Drop the whole folder with the Shopify preset selected and download a ZIP. First 10 images per session are free.
What if 300KB is still too large?
Lower Target KB after selecting the preset, or use compress to 100KB for stricter limits.
